We visited the XL Gallery in Orlando,FL last week to check out their newest show “Crooked Smiles” by artist Chris Reason. We really enjoyed his use of bold clean colors with his crisp line work. One of our favorite pieces was the sheep clock (Shown Below) which of course was sold. If you are in town then get you butt to this show. (More photos after the jump)

Cute, Fun and Exciting are just a few words to describe this exhibit. Last week we attended the opening of “Mr. Smiling” at the Redefine Gallery in Orlando, FL. Maihiro was presenting the works of, one of his team members, Susan Lee. She definitely created this fun and imaginary world with her drawings focusing on one of her characters Mr. Smiling. She explored many mediums for this show from sketches, digital illustrations and even watercolor. Not to mention, the artwork was very affordable and great for anybody looking to start their own art collection. The show will be up for one month and we really recommend you check this one out. We will be posting part two later this week. (More photos after the jump)

Ivan Roque’s “Lost in Cinema” is a series of 16 works based on the artist’s characters “Lost” and “Found.” Using collage and painting Roque pays tribute to 20th century cinema greats such as Al Pacino’s “Scarface,” Sylvester Stallone’s “Rocky,” series and the cult classics “King Kong” and “The Rocky Horror Picture Show.”
The new works present a move towards a new direction for Roque as he pushes his limits in “Lost in Cinema.” Movies are a source inspiration for the artist and he appreciates the medium’s ability to convey messages. Roque sees film as moving paintings with endless possibilities for interpretation. This association started the idea to merge cinema and fine art into this new series, which will be accompanied by a surprise site specific installation at Nac Gallery.
“Lost in Cinema” runs from May 18th, 2013 through June 13th, 2013 at Nac Gallery, 3325 NE 32nd Street, Fort Lauderdale 33308
VIP Preview: Friday, May 17, 2013. 7-11 pm
